On July 7, 2025, Ghana signed a $30 million grant agreement with China to build a modern market in Aflao (Volta Region), fulfilling a 2024 campaign promise by President John Mahama. The project is expected to boost cross-border trade with Togo and continues the strong Ghana-China cooperation in commercial infrastructure.
