On July 3, 2025, during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to Ghana in 30 years, President John Mahama awarded him the Order of the Star of Ghana, the country’s second-highest honor. Four memoranda of understanding were signed to boost cooperation in agriculture, energy, industry, infrastructure, human capital, and health. Modi described India as Ghana’s “partner and companion on its nation-building journey.”
