9th Pan-African Congress in Lomé : Africa Redraws Its Map

On December 11, 2025, the 9th Pan-African Congress in Lomé highlighted the historical distortion of Africa on world maps, notably through the Mercator projection. This Eurocentric view visually diminishes the continent, which, at 30 million km², is 14 times larger than Greenland. The “Correct the Map” campaign advocates using accurate projections like Gall-Peters to restore Africa’s true geographical, demographic, and economic standing.
